As a city of crafts, Yame is a great place to shop for unique souvenirs and specialty wares. For travelers interested in Kyushu-made goods, traditional crafts, Yame tea, and Japanese sake, here are some of our recommended shops to visit!

- Unagi no Nedoko (うなぎの寝床) – This shop showcases products made by artisans from Yame-Chikugo region and all over Japan. There are two stores: the Former Marubayashi Honke store, which has items such as Kurume Kasuri monpe pants, and the former Terasaki Residence store, which has products such as pottery, bamboo crafts, and local toys. The stores close at 5:00 p.m. so please come early. (Closed: Tuesday, Wednesday, Map (Former Terasaki Residence), Map (Former Marubayashi Honke), Instagram)
- Yame Traditional Crafts Museum – Here you can see nationally designated traditional crafts on display as well as shop. (Closed: Monday, Map)
- Konomi Honke – A tea merchant known for being the oldest tea wholesaler in Kyushu. (Map, Instagram)
- Asahiya Liquor Store – This store is recommended for those interested in Japanese sake. (Closed: Tuesday, Map)
- Sakata Cafe – A small cafe run by Sakata Orimoto (a Kurume Kasuri maker). Enjoy eating noodle dishes and shop in a small Kurume Kasuri store. We recommend a visit if you have the chance. (Closed: Wednesday, Thursday, Map, Instagram)
